
Hey, beer drinkers, as I said in the last article, here's what it takes to get started in making your own homebrewed beer.
Just in case you are wondering if it is legal, according to an act of congress (H.R. 1337) it is legal to brew up to 200 gallons of beer a year for personal use as long as there 2 adults in the household.
Here's list of what you need to get started.
1. Stainless steel pot (4 gal.)
2. 1 6 gal plastic bucket with a sealable lid.
3. 1 fermentation air lock.
4. 1 glass carboy (these are the containers used in water coolers.)
5. 6ft length of 1/8 inside diameter clear plastic hose.
6. Rubber stopper with hole to fit air lock.
7. 2 1/2 ft of 3/8 in outside diameter, (5/16 in inside) clear plastic hose.
8. Large plastic funnel.
9. Thermometer
10. Beer hydrometer.
11. Bottle capper
12. 50 clean beer bottles, with caps.
13. Sanitizer.
All of these supplies are available at you local homebrew store or on line at any one of several online stores. Total cost to get started is probably around $150 to $200 dollars. Next article I will go through to different types of beer and how to start you first batch. . . .
